Caleb's adventures in the Realm continue
in Book 2 of The Sentry Series.
Fifteen-year-old Caleb McCallister has heard the Irish legends all his life. He knows them inside and out. He just didn’t know they were all true—or that he was born into a family of Sentries, an ancient guild sworn to protect the human world from evil and darkness. He hopes the family obligation will bring him closer to his distant father, but the thread that binds them seems more tenuous than ever.
The Sentries aren’t supposed to be distracted by mundane problems like bullies and criminals, but Caleb has a hard time staying on task. The Realm and its magic aren’t exactly what he expected, and when he tries to stop a pretty girl from stealing a priceless artifact, he is drawn into a plot that could change the destiny of both worlds.
While the older Sentries battle a growing infestation of vampire-like creatures, Caleb and his friends are on their own. But to unlock the secrets of the old relic, Caleb will first have to learn to question the motives of everyone he trusts and maybe even trust those he never thought he would. Because in the vividly colorful Realm, good and evil aren’t always black and white.

"It’s impossible not to root for Caleb - the author has a gift for authentically conveying the thoughts and words of a modern 15 year old boy who finds himself unexpectedly bearing an ancient responsibility. I enjoyed learning more Irish mythology than I ever knew existed."
Kirkus Reviews
"The author expertly mines Celtic mythology to catapult Caleb into a quest... rendered in cinematic detail...This exciting fantasy encompassing friendships, a
devastating betrayal... and a young protagonist, is enjoyable for anyone who appreciates well-written YA fiction. A dynamic mix of living mythology and a modern-day hero in the making."
E.W. - Five Stars
"Caleb McCallister goes on the hero's journey, but in a way we've never read before. The novel is fast-paced, taut, and rich with Irish mythology... Sargent, like Rick Riordan, excels at a type of world-building based on a culture's myths.... The way he weaves the mythology into his own text is seamless.
